Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over 15 years working with people facing complex needs. This included roles in the Criminal Justice System and Family Support, where I honed my skills in active listening and empathy. I've also been a teacher, sharing my knowledge of Counselling Skills and Health & Social Care at a local college.
My own experience as a counselling client sparked my interest in this field. I know firsthand how daunting it can be to take that first step, and how transformative the process can be. This personal journey informs my practice, helping me create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and feelings.
Since qualifying in 2018, I've worked with a diverse range of clients, specializing in areas such as trauma, loss, and the long-term effects of past experiences. I've provided counselling for survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, individuals affected by substance addiction, and those grappling with anxiety and depression.
I believe in the importance of continuous learning and regularly invest in my professional development to ensure I can offer the best support to my clients.
I maintain professional indemnity insurance and hold an up-to-date DBS check on the annual update scheme. I also engage in regular supervision to ensure I'm always working ethically and effectively for the benefit of my clients.
Thank you for considering counselling with me. Taking the first step can be daunting, but it's also the beginning of a journey towards positive change and personal growth. I'm here to support you every step of the way.
